Jesuits: called to make a difference

Jesus wanted to know what people thought about him hence He asked His disciples what people think of me. Do you think Jesus did not know about himself? If he knew who He was then why did he ask such a question?

I think we too need to ask people about ourselves/myself. We can go a little further and ask what do they want from us/what are they looking forward to get from us, simply a social worker / educationist or something more than that?

I think people want a spiritual man who is willing to listen to them and guide people to God, in short Man of God. I personally feel that some of us Jesuits are moving away from our spirituality and prayer life. How many of us feel daily Eucharist and personal Prayer are meaningful? Some time we give priority to other things than Spiritual duties. If I have freely decided to follow Christ then how can I say that these practices are a waste of time?? I am not saying that social work, teaching and any other works is not our works. In fact I admire all these works of the Society and proud to be a part of such an order.

My sincere concern is Spirituality is our strength, which we have inherited from our founder St. Ignatius and forefathers. Today how many of us willing to give retreats, Spiritual guidance and take us spiritual ministry? How many people come to us for these needs?

I strongly feel that we have to prepare ourselves to take us spiritual ministry in order to follow Christ and lead people to God.

We are called to make a difference………………. Are we ready?
